During heatwaves, find the closest to you cooling centres in EXTREMA European cities!

Caution! Extreme temperatures are a major cause of health problems and a high statistical risk of mortality.

Timely real time information during extreme weather events can prevent the consequences. The EXTREMA Europe application uses satellite data together with atmospheric models to locate the most affected areas in real time. EXTREMA Europe evaluates your personalized thermal risk in real time at your location and, if it is high, alerts you. It also gives you recommendations on how to respond to the extreme temperatures.

EXTREMA Europe gives you information about:

• The potential risk: Assessment of your personalized thermal risk for your current location anywhere in Europe and suggestions for appropriate risk mitigation measures.

• Cooling centres, cooling places (during summer): Information, opening hours, and directions to get to the nearest cool spot as well as suggestions to choose the most suitable for you. Currently available for EXTREMA cities Athens, Paris, Rotterdam, Milan and the Island of Mallorca.

• Multiple user profiles: Multi-user support. This feature is especially useful when you want to protect your vulnerable relatives: just enter their profile and location and get estimates of the potential risk they are experiencing.
